Dr. Martens, the popular footwear brand, has recently filed a trademark application for Dr. Martens, i.e., its name, to enter the world of the metaverse. The application was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The news was shared by trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis on Twitter.

The owners of the famous footwear brand have filed a trademark for:

Under international class 009, the company will provide downloadable virtual goods such as shoe polishing preparations, shoe creams, rucksacks, purses, school bags, socks, stockings, headgear, headbands, sweatbands, etc.
Under the international class 035, online retail store services in the context of virtual goods will be offered and include shoe-clearing preparations, travel cases, insoles for footwear, trunks, travel bags, scarves, tights, gloves, and a lot more.
Dr. Martens partnered with the community-oriented brand TRASHYMUSE in 2021 for the release of a campaign aimed at promoting the AUDRICK and TARIK, two new growing styles.
It won’t be wrong to say that the company is among the brands that have an eye for future innovation, where fashion and lifestyle would be digital and enable everyone to not only connect but also express themselves in the evolving virtual world.
In other news, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Sports Authority filed trademark applications for these store names with plans to offer online retail stores for virtual goods, virtual clothing, footwear, sports gear, and fitness gear.

Entertainment services such as online, non-downloadable virtual clothing, bags, footwear, sports equipment, and goods will be provided as well.
