The Brazilian Football Confederation has terminated the Brazilian national team’s  NFT deal. Bitci, a Turkish-based blockchain company, has terminated the agreement after a series of delayed payments over several months from Bitci.

Brazilian Sports Business outlet Maquina do Esporte reported that there had been an issue over healthy professional relationships between the two organizations. This was noted after a missing branding of Bitci from the sponsors’ backdrop used for the Brazilian Squad announcement for Qatar World Cup 2022 earlier.

Contrary to that, the official statement from the Turkish Firm said,

There has been no notice of termination to Bitci, and the contracts between the Brazilian national team and Bitci are in force.

The entire partnership rolled out in several stages, including-

  • CBF signed Bitci as the official cryptocurrency partner for the Brazilian national soccer team in June 2021
  • The agreement also included the coverage of women and national youth teams.
  • Furthermore, in September 2021the blockchain firm also launched the Brazil National team Fan Token (BFT), a series of NFTs based on Selecao and its players.

The official Bitci statement also included that regardless of the contract between the two organisations, the NFTs would still be valid.
