Shilly, one of the first “community produced recording artists,” has just published his debut track, “I’m Boring,” on all leading streaming apps, like Spotify and Apple Music, and a music video on YouTube. Noah Berg and Matt Squire wrote the song, and HKJAY and Zen Doubt directed the video.

Shilly, the singer, is a “born a jpeg” artist, which means he is a digital musician supported by a community of web3 musicians and storytellers. Despite his unique start, Shilly has big goals, wanting to become the metaverse’s greatest musician with the help of his passionate fan base.

Pixel Vault and WAGMI United co-founders Josh Schwartz, and Preston Johnson, alongside Shilly, are part of the production team. They all share a lifetime love of music and have been active players in the web3 sector since early 2021.

Shilly is one of 10,000 NFTs in Yuga Labs’ Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, developed in 2021. He takes on the identity and digital identity of his bored ape, Bored Ape #6722. Those who own these NFTs have exclusive commercial rights, and Shilly is the most recent example of the Bored Ape IP being used to develop a unique character or brand.

NFTs have powered the growth of virtual artists such as Shilly, who are handled by NFTs and communities of Web3 musicians. NFTs also provide creators more control over the distribution and administration of music and related content, allowing them to monetize their work in novel ways.

Musicians like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Cordell are utilizing their Bored Ape Yacht Club IP in their music professions, creating fresh and exciting prospects for themselves and their fans by using exclusive and valuable NFTs.
