  • Opera recently launched Web3 Guard to make browsing safe for crypto users.
  • 2022 was a tough year for the crypto industry, as major hacks and theft resulted in roughly $4.3 billion in cryptocurrency funds.
  • One of the major features is to check the Dapp, which includes checking for suspicious code and whether a malicious owner created it.

Multi-platform web browser Opera recently launched Web3 Guard. In past years, it has been very challenging for Web3, but now with the launch of Web3 Guard, Opera is making Web3 research safer.

The tools are designed to protect the users of Web3 while they browse. All these features are live as of today and will be available over the Opera Crypto Browser, significantly improving its users’ security.

This year was very resilient, especially for crypto; it faced many frauds and cyber attacks, which overall resulted in a record loss for crypto investors. In 2022, critical network breaches and thefts resulted in the loss of almost $4.3 billion in the crypto market.

Furthermore, as per the market reports and data gathered, it was noticed that around 15 new crypto scams are seen every hour.

Danny Yao, Senior Product Manager at Opera, added that browsers in the current situation, which are mostly used by users today, are not built to handle the complexity of Web3.

With the launch of Web3 Guard, Opera will make a significant advancement with specialized security features that allow people to use Web3 applications in a more safe and secure way.

One of the major features of Web3 Guard is to check Dapp; it checks for security flaws that are present in decentralized applications (Dapps).

It also includes checking that the code was created by a malicious owner, contains suspicious code, or has undergone any audit. It will allow users to check whether a Dapp has been compromised or was created to trick users into trusting it.
