- Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has launched its DEWAVerse platform on the Metaverse, becoming the first local government organization.
- The announcement was made during the Digital Transformation Steering Committee Meeting.
- This move of DEWA is also aimed at contributing to the Metaverse Strategy launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.
In an announcement made recently, it has been revealed that DEWA, Dubai Electricity, and Water Authority have launched its DEWAVerse platform on the Metaverse. Following this move in the Metaverse, DEWA has become the first local government organization to launch its platform on the Metaverse. The step has been taken in order to provide DEWA’s services to employees, customers, and society.

DEWA made this announcement at Dewa’s Digital Transformation Steering Committee Meeting, which was also attended by McKinsey and marked the presentation of the Digital Quotient Assessment 2022 report. As per the report, it was addressed that DEWA has managed to maintain its position as a global leader in utilities.
The firm makes investments in metaverse technology while developing its present and future projects contributing to the overall happiness of stakeholders, enhancing efficiency and production, developing business, and the reduction of costs.
During the meeting, a total of seven projects were reviewed, including the Customer Service Centre, the first of its kind locally, which allows the customers to establish communication with the Customer Care Centre agents in order to answer their queries and facilitate transactions in the virtual world.
DEWA has already registered its name as one of the first government bodies in Dubai that completed the smart transformation of all its services by 100% in 2014. The key milestones in the journey of Dewa involve the adoption of Google Glasses in 2014, which constituted a brand new shift in the quality of the services provided.
