  • The UAE’s public and private sectors are both enthusiastic about the Metaverse.
  • The Hyderabad-based Yashoda Hospital has created a metaverse-based experiential zone.

According to a senior official on Wednesday, healthcare provider Thumbay Group will launch the first hospital in Metaverse in the UAE in the coming months. Dr. Thumbay Moideen, founder and president of Thumbay Group, said that it is already in the works, and they anticipate launching it before October of this year.

This will be a full-fledged virtual hospital where patients can visit the doctor while wearing an avatar. They will enable patients who visit the Thumbay healthcare center to view how the hospital appears in the Metaverse to cater to medical tourism.

The Metaverse is being widely embraced by both the public and business sectors in the UAE. In the Metaverse, the first wedding was recently held in Dubai. The healthcare provider in the UAE has contracted with a company to teach all of its physicians how to interact with patients in the Metaverse.

Dr. Thumbay stated that although a decision has not yet been made regarding the fee, it will probably be in line with the teleconsultation fees levied by the healthcare operator.

He was giving a speech Wednesday at the Thumbay Group-organized “Insurance Meet 2022.”

Vice-President of Thumbay Group Akbar Moideen Thumbay said the company is incorporating artificial intelligence into the hospital’s system so that cameras would first recognize the patient’s license plate as he enters the building and then his face.

For long-term care patients who have been bedridden and paralyzed in hospitals for six months or more, The Thumbay Group is bringing AR & VR technologies. According to him, a lot of patients are receiving this treatment via AR and VR.

India, too is not far behind in the Metaverse race. The Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad has established a metaverse-based experience zone. The hospital has acquired land on Decentraland and is now the first hospital in the nation to establish a presence on a metaverse platform.
