The 2022 World Cup is around the corner and FIFA has shared the launch of an NFT platform based on soccer-themed digital collectibles.
FIFA+ Collect, the platform, will launch this month with inclusive, affordable and accessible non-fungible tokens based on remarkable art, soccer moments and imagery.
The World Cup will take place in Qatar in November. Moments from the marquee global soccer tournament could be transformed into digital collectibles.
FIFA+ Collect will operate on the Algorand blockchain, a PoS Ethereum developed by Silvio Micali, MIT professor. Algorand emerged as the official partner of FIFA in May.
Romy Gai, FIFA’s Chief Business Officer, said that similar to stickers and memorabilia, it is one of those opportunities for fans that allow them to engage and interact with their favorite players, moments and much more.
More information about the collections that will be included in FIFA+ Collect’s launch will be announced in the coming time besides the teasers featuring the NFTs types that will be rolled out during the World Cup.
Algorand acquired Napster, a digital music sharing service, as well as collaborated with LimeWire, which released a music-based NFT marketplace recently.
Besides Algorand, Crypto.com will also mark its presence in Doha in November, as it is going to be the crypto exchange sponsor for the World Cup.
