The open-source web app developed by ShapeShift DAO, a decentralized, non-custodial cryptocurrency platform, and community has been merged with the WalletConnect v1.0 protocol. This was along with the Keplr, XDEFI Wallet, and Tally Ho wallets. These integrations might add over a million new, qualified users. WalletConnect is chain independent and offers a bridge to hundreds of ETH and EVM-compatible wallets and DApps.

Due to ShapeShift’s current wallet and chain support, users of app.shapeshift.com may handle all of their DeFi operations more conveniently, without fees or custody. ShapeShift currently supports more wallets, chains, and protocols than any other open-source, community-owned cryptocurrency program.
Willy Ogorzaly, Head of Decentralization for ShapeShift DAO said that a single app that enables users to quickly connect with combined DeFi protocols across chains is what ShapeShift DAO is working hard to provide as the best interface for the decentralized world.
He added that they fundamentally view an open-source, community-owned, decentralized, and free interface as the best. They are currently working on this because it ought to be there already but isn’t.
They believe that the ultimate interface to the decentralized world should support a variety of wallets, and they are excited to finally welcome ShapeShift’s 1M+ customers from WalletConnect, Keplr, XDEFI Wallet, and Tally Ho.
WalletConnect, an open-source Web3 communication protocol, connects wallets and DApps. Thanks to its decentralized messaging infrastructure, a wallet can connect to and communicate with another wallet or DApp using a QR code or deep link.
WalletConnect’s encrypted security, simplicity, and ease of use have led to its inclusion in more than 100 of the most well-liked wallets and hundreds of DApps. In a later release, WalletConnect support will be expanded so that ShapeShift users can connect to any DApp that supports WalletConnect and execute transactions from any wallet supported by app.shapeshift.com.
