BarrelDao announces the launch of Solana Summer Shandy Beer represented by NFT

SNEAK PEEK

  • Latest Solana Summer Shandy is a beer from barrelDAO, a user-controlled brewery.
  • It will be made available in a limited amount of 333 total 16-packs of beer.
  • Dave says 20 of the individual NFTs referenced on the cans are owned by barrelDAO.

After the Solana smartphone and an IRL, we now have the very new Solana beer. Brand new Solana Summer Shandy was just released today, but neither the Solana Foundation nor its primary network contributor, Solana Labs, are responsible for this alcoholic lemonade shandy beverage.

Rather, the Solana beer is the production of barrelDAO, a brewery, and distillery that the users control. The Solana Summer Shandy will be available in a limited quantity of 333 total 16-packs of beer, and each pack is represented by a Solana NFT, which can be bought today and then redeemed on Monday.

BarrelDAO aims to launch the sale this afternoon on the major Solana NFT marketplace, Magic Eden, but as the publication was still working through drop-related issues. Each of the 16- packs will be sold for 1.35 SOL or roughly $45 at current, and that price will include shipping to the United States, Australia, and United Kingdom.

The beer represents Solana in ways other than just the name and redemption tokens. Cans of the beer also feature unique artwork by Mark Lauthier, which references a variety of Solana-based NFT projects and specific avatars within those collections.

If you go through it deeply, you will also find other references to famous Solana NFT projects such as Degenerate Ape Academy, Okay Bears, Solana Monkey Business, DeGods, Thungbirdz, Catalina Whale Mixer, Cets on Creck, and John Lê’s “The First Edition.”

As per the statement shared with news agencies, Co-founder and CEO of Barrel Labs, Dave Goldman, said that about 20 of the individual NFTs that are referenced on the cans are owned by barrelDAO itself. At the same time, 23 of them seem to appear via licensing agreements made with the owners of the individual NFTs.
