The sold Dog NFT has an outhouse in the background and has Ninja Kunai as its back. Talking about the physical attributes, its eyes are closed, feet are cast, has a robot fur, a hermit crab on head, a heavily drooling mouth and a spiked collar around the neck.
Upon the massive success of BAYC and the affiliated Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), Yuga Labs decided to launch furry companions for all BAYC owners. According to The project creators, the project can be best described as-
“It gets lonely in the swamp sometimes. That’s why every ape should have a four-legged companion. To curl up at your feet. To bring you a beer. To fire a missile launcher at that fucking monkey Jimmy.
That’s why we’ve started the Bored Ape Kennel Club, and why we’re offering up a dog for adoption to every single member of the BAYC – for free (you only pay gas).”
A total of 10,000 Bored Ape Kennel Club NFTs are there and each BACK dog has been stored as an ERC-721 token on the Ethereum blockchain and hosted on IPFS. Not only every dog is unique in its own way but is also programmatically-generated from about 170 traits; wherein, some traits are rarer as compared to others. The dogs can be individualised by items on their body, such as head, eyes, neck, feet, fur and mouth. Moreover, each dog has a different backpack accessory, different background and follows 1 of 9 different themes.
According to Yuga Labs, reason behind giving for the Club Dog drop was, “To give our members something fun and unexpected while we work on the treasure hunt and mutant-breeding. Plus, we just love dogs.”
As the edition is limited as of now, no future Club Dog drops have been planned.
Last month, there was news that The Bored Ape Kennel Club NFT collection has hit a new ATH floor price of over 12 ETH on Opensea. Owing to this, even the cheapest purchase will be around $36,000 USD.
