Etihad Airways has announced the release of its first non-fungible token collection, EY-ZERO1.

The collection will include ten detailed 3D aircraft models with each mode displaying a one-of-a-kind Etihad Boeing 787 Dreamliner livery.

2003 limited-edition collectibles will be put on sale on July 21 at 6pm UAE time. 2003 also signifies the year when the airline was established.

Tony Douglas, Group Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Aviation Group, shared his excitement about the launch of the NFT collection. In a statement, he said that EY-ZERO1 will provide aviation buffs, collectors and travelers a different work of art along with offering travel and lifestyle perks.

He further said that NFTs and metaverse are transforming the face of digital economy and being the first airline to explore them and offer additional utility for customers is a moment of pride.

The airline also posted a video on YouTube to keep everyone’s excitement intact.

Upon tailoring the collection to aviation and web3 fans, immediate utility would be provided to the NFT buyers in the form of Etihad Guest Silver Tier membership. 10 lucky holders will win complimentary flight tickets with Etihad. Other benefits include access to future NFT collections and upcoming metaverse products planned by the airline in its Web3 strategy.

The airline has also announced giving away 20 NFTs to individuals who pre-register on ethihad.com/zero1 by July 16. Price of each NFT would be US$349 plus tax on etihad.arcube.io. The sale will come to an end on August 18 at 6pm UAE time.

One can buy the NFTs through the Etihad Guest Reward Shop, which means that all the 7 million loyalty programme members can acquire an NFT by redeeming their Etihad Guest Miles.

EY-ZERO1 will be minted on Polygon and Etihad Airways will track the CO2 emissions of the NFTs in collaboration with Aerial.is. Funds from the collection will be used to buy sustainable aviation fuel in 2022.

Mr. Douglas, said:

As well as recognising the artistic value of our aircraft liveries, our NFT collection has been designed to be as efficient as possible and support our wider sustainability and decarbonisation efforts at Etihad Airways.
