Hefty.art, Web 3.0’s most discerning art arena, will collaborate with Sotheby to offer “Fury” by renowned artist M.F Husain in a first-of-its-kind “phygital” sale of an Indian artist’s work. Husain’s 2000 paintings will be sold at the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Sotheby’s Auction on October 25 as part of the collaboration. In addition, an NFT of the paintings will also be sold.

The artwork, which is valued at over $120,000, will be offered online as a single product with cryptocurrency payments accepted in conjunction with the live auction at Sotheby’s, London.

A highly successful career as one of India’s most renowned artists of the 20th century, M.F. Husain is widely regarded as the master of modern Indian painting. His work served as an inspiration to a generation of artists. M.F. Husain’s art has received praise from collectors all over the world and has been widely and globally displayed at places such as the Serpentine Gallery and V&A Museum in London and the Qatar Museum of Islamic Art in Doha.

The debut of HEFTY. art’s new platform, a project that gives voice and space to artists and enables them to thrive both creatively and financially, is appropriately marked by the phygital sale of “Fury.” Fury, authored by M.F. Husain, was published in 2000, the year of the infamous “dot com era” crash brought on by the rise and fall of technology stocks.

The internet and other technologies, including the art world, have advanced and become widely used over the past two decades. The sale of “Fury” is the first of several NFTs that HEFTY.art will publish featuring works by some of the most well-known curators and artists in the world.

HEFTY.art aspires to provide creators the independence and authority they desire while assuring that collectors become the legitimate owners of a one-of-a-kind digital asset when acquiring a work of art by ushering India into the realm of NFTs.

NFTs remove several obstacles and provide a clear interaction between art, artists, and collectors. Since they are digital assets made possible by blockchain technology, when someone buys an NFT, it is supported by a Smart Contract on the blockchain that may instantly execute transactions, distribute royalties, and give an artwork additional functionality or utility.

From October 19 to October 25, the auction will take place live.
