  • The pilot project will be happening as soon as Monday.
  • Users can showcase their blockchain art in the form of NFTs on the platform.

NFTs belonging to the some of the very renowned blockchain networks for crypto art will soon make their way to Instagram. According to CoinDesk, the worldwide popular social media platform is considering NFT integrations for Polygon, Solana, Ethereum and Flow. All these networks host majority of trading in digital collectibles and Ethereum along with its Bored Apes is the leader by market cap.

In March, Meta Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said:

We’re working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term.

However, he didn’t mention how Meta is planning to implement NFT to its platforms. He was quoted saying:

Over the next several months, the ability to bring some of your NFTs in, hopefully over time be able to mint things within that environment.

The app is planning to support most commonly used crypt wallets like MetaMask. Users can prove their NFT ownership and display them on their profiles along with tagging the creators who made them. All this can be done by plugging in the wallets.

As per reports of CoinDesk, Instagram will not charge anything from users for posting and sharing NFTs. The platform has approximately one billion monthly active users and a number of them use the platform in order to promote as well as market their art. Considering this, the decision will lead to cultural visibility for NFTs.

Previously, Today NFT News reported that Meta would follow up its NFT pilot on Instagram with options like minting and group membership on Facebook.

An email to Meta seeking comment wasn’t immediately answered.
