  • Streaming giant OneFootball pushes into NFT marketplace.
  • Argentine football fans can buy accredited digital collectibles.
  • Different price points will be set to allow everyone access the NFTs.

The Argentina FA is geared up to launch its own NFT platform with streaming platform OneFootball. With this deal, OneFootball will expand its operations from its core media business to cover live-scores, news, live streaming and statistics.

The AFA agreement became a possibility due to the new joint venture, OneFootball Labs, which was announced last month with Animoca Brands and Dapper Labs. Now, fans of Argentine football can purchase officially licensed digital collectibles on this NFT platform.

Keeping the NFTs accessible to all, they will be available at a variety of price points, as told by OneFootball. Nothing more than the email address will be required to buy and store the digital collectibles.

CEO & Founder at OneFootball, Lucas von Cranach, said:

OneFootball will take tens of millions of football supporters from Web2 to Web3 over the coming years. In order to do that, it’s crucial that we have the right partners which share our excitement about delivering a future of football that is decentralised and built on Web3. By becoming the first federation to launch licensed digital collectibles with OneFootball, the AFA will be giving fans more access and more ownership, helping to bring them even closer to the game they love.

As a long-term agreement, non-fungible tokens will be available for current, past as well as future national teams, along with celebrated players like Angel Di María, Diego Maradona, Gabriel Batistuta and Lionel Messi.

While AFA will be responsible to bring the stars and garner for global recognition; OneFootball will connect with global digital audience who is already passionate about football.

Claudio Tapia, President of AFA, said:

Our growing partnership with OneFootball is helping us to reach fans in ever more innovative ways. Our content agreement is helping us to reach millions more fans worldwide, and we’re excited to be the first federation to release a personalised NFT platform with OneFootball, transforming in further the digital experiences for our national teams and football fans.
