In the Shopify introduction video, which includes a skating woman who passes through a pastel portal and transforms into a Doodles NFT, a voiceover urges viewers to “invite their communities into a world that acknowledges and rewards devotion.”
Token holders connect a crypto wallet to unlock exclusive shopping experiences, from early access to drops and limited collections to one-of-a-kind experiences and other surprises, ins.
To save clients from having to visit another website, Shopify last year offered the capability for retailers to sell NFTs through Shopify. Through “token-gated commerce,” Shopify is advancing that with its new solution. The retailers are free to choose where the NFTs will originate from.
NFTs are envisioned as a kind of loyalty card that top business customers can use to gain access to premium merchandise.
Only individuals with existing NFT collections can apply for early access to Shopify’s “gm” shop, a gated merchandise store, and a play on the Crypto Twitter acronym for “good morning.”
However, those that haven’t received approval yet can still integrate NFT token-gating apps like Shopthru or Single into their Shopify sites.
As part of its token-gated business introduction, Shopify revealed that it has already worked with the Adam Bomb Squad, Doodles, World of Women, Invisible Friends, Superplastic, Stapleverse, and Cool Cats NFT collections to create token-gated shops.
Shopify hopes NFTs will alter how consumers shop online and offline despite the recent crypto meltdown. The industry leader in e-commerce has launched a new service that enables users to use NFTs to access exclusive benefits, merchandise, and in-person interactions with merchants.
