  • Nintendo and The Pokémon Company had made an intentional decision not to launch any Pokémon NFTs.

In the recent revelation made from the documents lodged with the Federal Court of Australia, it has come to the surface that Pokémon Company International is reportedly taking Pokémon Pty Ltd to court over an advertisement. The advertisement featured a new NFT-based Pokémon mobile game

Pokémon Pty Ltd is an Australian company that set up and advertised a website that claimed to be launching a crypto game called PokéWorld, under the name Kotiota Studios. In addition to this, they have claimed to have worked on other games under the title, involving Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Pokémon Home, and even the undisclosed Pokémon Sleep.

As mentioned in the legal documents, Pokémon Company International points out in the legit documents that they are not a consultant for them. The Pokémon Company International has recently asked the court to find a resolution to stop Pokémon Pty Ltd from utilizing their trademarks on social media and websites and not launching the game or selling any NFTs utilizing their IP.

It was specifically pointed out by the counsel for TPCi, Nintendo, and The Pokémon Company, and it had made a deliberate decision not to launch any Pokémon NFTs.

On December 19, 2022, the first application to the court was sent, with the first hearing happening on December 21, 2022. Given the fact that Pokémon Company International owns the rights to Pokémon, Pokémon Pty Ltd is required to stop everything they are doing, including the advertisement of the game.
