  • VI is dedicated to enhancing user experience via the integration and utilization of this emerging technology
  • The latest venture of Vodafone Idea will be targeted at engaging with customers while enhancing their digital experience

In a recent announcement from the Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Idea, Avneesh Khosla, it was revealed that Vodafone Idea is eyeing Metaverse opportunities. Earlier in the first quarter of 2022, it came to notice that Mobile Streams Plc, a UK-based tech company, was partnering with Vodafone Idea to launch eSports, gaming, and metaverse services.

The recent move will be dedicated to enhancing the users’ experience and a try worth giving to stem user drift and push to regain subscriber market share. As per the Chief Marketing Officer:

VI is keenly following this emerging technology to see how it evolves. We believe it has the potential to engage with consumers and enhance their digital experience deeply.

In addition, Khosla revealed that metaverse would facilitate deep engagement in genres such as gaming, retail, entertainment, education, eCommerce, and social networking. The availability of devices to enable immersive experiences will help economies quickly reach critical mass.

As per the analysts, telecommunication companies will have a varied perspective for their B2C and B2B segments. This came following Bharti Airtel becoming the first operator in India to foray into the metaverse through its Xstream multiplex.

The Global TMT emerging markets leader, Prashant Singhal, at EY, recently released a statement that said:

Right now, no one (retail customer) is asking for 5G. But once you offer experiences enhanced by faster speeds, low latency, and more bandwidth, the consumer will start using it. That’s what we saw happen with 4G as well.

Earlier in 2022, Vodafone Idea announced a partnership with Mobile Streams Plc, and as per a regulatory filing in February, it was revealed:

Mobile Streams Plc is delighted to announce it will be launching new services in India in partnership with Vodafone Idea during the first quarter of 2022.
