- The latest 5.9.1 edition of the iconic Windows media application Winamp contains the capability for playing music NFTs, according to Wu Blockchain.
- Winamp presently supports ERC-721 and ERC-1155 audio and video files, which are Ethereum and Polygon compatible.
- The Ethereum scaling solution team also announced a cooperation with Warner Music and LGND Music on December 7 to establish a “collaborative, digitally collectible” music platform.
Winamp announces a press release offering playing music NFTs through its recent 5.9.1. release. Its latest version not only decreases its memory footprint and enhances security, but it also adds a new way to listen to the newest music formats. These enhancements have resulted in a significant web3 upgrade for listening.
As more and more innovative artists release their work in NFT format, Winamp will make playing audio NFTs simple and effortless.
Winamp allows music listeners to connect their Metamask wallet to Winamp through Brave, Chrome, or Firefox with this latest version. It then connects their preferred music NFTs to their trusted player.
Winamp now supports music and video files distributed via the ERC-721 and ERC-1155 standards, as well as the Ethereum and Polygon/Matic protocols. Winamp’s 83 million global users will be able to organize their libraries and playlists to include these audio files in the same way they would any other music.
NFT support will be added shortly, along with numerous other significant changes that will transform Winamp’s player into a global and advanced listening library. The player will bring together music enthusiasts’ disparate experiences into a single, fantastic-sounding location.
These expanded player benefits will be complemented by a feature-rich creator service that will connect artists and fans for the benefit of everyone. The service is set to begin in early 2023 and will be cross-platform. There may eventually be a plethora of polygon-based music NFTs to pick from as well.
