CryptoPunk 2066 has been sold out to nObOdy for $1.38 million on December 31, 2022. This punk first came into existence on June 23, 2017, and sold for just $377 in July 2017. Today, the same Punk has been sold for 1.16K Ethereum.
A CryptoPunk is a work of art and a brand-new type of property tokenization that can fetch millions of dollars on the NFT markets. Many famous and influential people own one or more of these 24×24-pixel, distinctive 8-bit avatars.
On the Ethereum platform, CryptoPunks is a collection of non-fungible tokens. The Larva Labs studio, made up of a team of Canadian software developers, debuted the initiative in June 2017. A crypto art blockchain initiative inspired both the ERC-721 standard for NFTs and the current crypto art movement, which is a component of cryptocurrency and decentralised finance ecosystems on several blockchains today.
The CryptoPunks have 10,000 randomly generated faces. There have never been two that are exactly the same, and each one can be claimed as the sole owner on the Ethereum platform. Anyone with an Ethereum account could have initially claimed them for free, but all 10,000 were swiftly taken. Now, they have to be acquired through the marketplace, which is built into the network. One can purchase, sell, and give punks for trade on this marketplace.
