FC Barcelona launches club’s first NFT “In a Way, Immortal”


  • FC Barcelona launches its first NFT, “In a Way, Immortal,’ creating Johan Cruyff’s historic stadium moment.
  • The NFT will be auctioned at Sotheby’s, the world’s popular destination for luxury, art and collectibles.
  • The buyer will receive VIP Club-based benefits & experiences and will be declared a Barça Digital Ambassador.

Johan Cruyff’s iconic stadium moment of December 22, 1973 when the legendary player scored a seminal goal against Miguel Reina will be created once again through Barcelona’s first NFT.

The auction at Sotheby’s will be conducted in a hybrid online-live auction featuring the one-of-one animated edition, ‘In a way, Immortal,’ along with four other NFTs with each one containing a still image right from the animated version. 

The high-end piece was produced in association with BCN Visuals that developed the cinematographic aesthetic of the NFT. Whoever buys this artwork will also be awarded with several VIP Club-based perks as  well as experiences. Moreover, they will be named a Barça Digital Ambassador. 

The NFT is the first piece of artwork in a collection of ten works to be displayed piece-by-piece with each one of them featuring historic moments and characters of FC Barcelona. 

The collection shows the Club’s vision to adopt innovation and technology besides creating lifetime cultural moments both from the past and present to educate and inspire its xennial, millennial and gen Z supporters with others.

The project hopes to develop loyalty among the youth. Moving on to another goal, it wants to redefine NFTs through an elite experiential product in a cinematic way.

The Barça Digital Ambassador or the upcoming owner of the NFT will receive one-of-a-kind perks and experiences as said above. One of the perks is the access to training sessions.
